Test stand development

The core competencies of the institute include test bench development, setup and operation. Each test stand is tailored precisely to the application area in order to achieve maximum quality and precision within the framework of the specified requirements. Our work includes mechanical design, covering the design of structural components and elements as well as the creation of 3D CAD models and the derivation of 2D drawings for production.

Furthermore, we pay great attention to the selection of suitable measuring technology in order to be able to record the characteristic properties of the test object with the desired accuracy.

Our test benches are used for the execution of externally funded research projects and for industrially financed contract work. An industrially financed contract work is, for example, the development and operation of a boiling test stand for the systematic investigation of the boiling behavior of indirect charge air coolers. Within the scope of research projects funded by third parties, a measuring setup for determining the shear force losses between rotor and stator of high-speed electric drives was developed and operated.
